Women in Nursing:

Many nurses took active part in the duty during the World War I, but the profession was transformed during the Second World War. British nurses of the Army Nursing Service were part of every overseas campaigns and many volunteered them selves for this service. In the 19th and 20th century nursing was considered as the profession exclusively for women.

Stereotypes of men entering this profession were prevalent in the society deter men from entering the nursing profession. Nurses should be considered nurses and not be singled out as a gender defined profession. Gender biases are falling. As a society, we need to enter a time of neutrality.

Nursing got the least paid attention from all sectors either government and private. Many of the nurses leave the profession after being over burdened and underpaid. A gender paid gap between women and men working in nursing has further worsen the situation. It is the responsibility of every respective government to remove the grievances of nurses and make the nursing a gender-neutral field. It is also equally important to include nursed in decision making as it will enhance the prestige of the field.
